Project Spotlight: More in Common
In early August, we completed a pro bono consulting project with More in Common, an international nonprofit with a mission to “understand the forces driving us apart and find common ground to tackle our most pressing challenges.”
More In Common has grown substantially since its founding in 2018 has built an important position in the broader ecosystem of research, democracy, and social cohesion organizations.
Anchored by its innovative research approach and its exploration of “hidden tribes” and the “exhausted majority” in US politics, the organization today has ambitious goals to expand its impact.
As with many nonprofits, though, More in Common faces significant headwinds amid the current political, philanthropic, and economic uncertainty. Growing corporate support could provide a significant complement to its largely foundation-funded program. But it’s a complex challenge to work through the highly competitive corporate philanthropy environment, especially with its focus on sensitive (for business) issues relating to democracy and social and political change.
To implement the project, the ABM for Good volunteer team, including Marlowe Fenne, Rob Leavitt, Eric Martin, Robin Tobin, and Jessica Tripoli, worked closely with More in Common leadership to create a practical, ready-to-launch Account-Based Marketing program.
Together, they developed:
A nonprofit ABM strategy for corporate engagement
A prioritized and segmented list of high-potential partner companies and decision makers
Tailored value propositions and messaging for a first campaign
A multi-channel campaign plan and activation roadmap with an outreach-ready toolkit
As More in Common moves into campaign implementation, the approach will enable the team to address the uncertain business environment with a compelling case for corporate support and multiple new opportunities to build significant and sustainable partnerships and collaboration.
